Water samples were accurately measured on the UVF-3100 analyzer, calibrated to Sitelab's EDRO calibration kit. 

The certified spiked concentration was 3.62 mg/L.  Sitelab's DRO result was 3.78 mg/L.

Results below are compared to the DRO in water concentrations reported by 83 participating laboratories using GC-FID or GC-MS instrumentation.

Examples of laboratory DRO methods used in this study: U.S. EPA 8015, 8015B, 8015M, California LUFT, Connecticut ETPH, Florida PRO, Iowa OA-2, Oklahoma DRO, Maine 4.2.25, NWTPH-Dx and IDNR OA-2..

DRO in Water Test Procedure:






When testing diesel range organics (DRO) in water, 10 mL of the water sample is measured out and transferred to an extraction jar. 10 mL of methanol solvent is then added to the jar and the extract is shaken for about one minute, giving the solvent ample time to dissolve the contamination. The sample is then poured into a glass cuvette and placed into the UVF-3100 for analysis, which is calibrated using Sitelab's EDRO Calibration Kit (CAL-042) on the Slot A optics.

Sitelab's DRO samples arrived in a cooler on ice and were provided in a 1-Liter bottle and 40 mL VOA vial.  Samples contained deionized water spike with fresh, No. 2 diesel fuel.

 The spike concentration was 3.620 mg/L.  Sitelab's DRO was 3.780 mg/L.
